Suspension of Home Information Packs

Home Information Packs have been suspended with immediate effect from 21st May 2010.

The Government announced that it intends to make it a priority to repeal Part 5 of the Housing Act 2004, covering Home Information Packs. To prevent uncertainty in the market an order suspending HIPs was made, effective from 21st May 2010.

This means that homes marketed for sale on or after this date will no longer require a Home Information Pack. However Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are still required.

Search Direct UK will process all orders that are currently on the system and will contact all customers who place orders in the future to ensure they are aware of this announcement. We will, of course, be still providing our full range of property searches which are still required as part of the conveyancing process.
